Yulia Samoilova, the singer with disabilities, will represent Russia at the international music contest “Eurovision-2017”, which will be held in Kiev. She will perform the composition Flame Is Burning. This was announced by the First Channel, which was engaged in the selection of the performer.
Samoylova was born in 1989 in the city of Ukhta (Komi Republic), at the age of 13 she was diagnosed with Verdig Hoffmann’s spinal amyotrophy. She has repeatedly performed at various competitions, including international ones. In 2013, the singer became the finalist of the third season of Alla Pugacheva’s project “Factor A”. In 2014, she participated in the opening ceremony of the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi.
Earlier, as a candidate, the singer Alexander Panayotov was called, but in an interview with dni.ru he denied his participation in the contest. In addition, the Eurovision-2017 was offered to send a singer Joseph Kobzon, as well as a choir named after Alexandrov.
On February 27 it became known that the Ukrainian showmen Vladimir Ostapchuk, Alexander Skichko and Timur Miroshnichenko will be the hosts of the contest. The country-organizer of the “Eurovision-2017” will be represented by the rock band O.Torvald with the song Time.
Ukraine received the right to host Eurovision-2017 after singer Jamala with the song “1944” won the contest in 2016 (held in Stockholm). The competition will be held in Kiev. The dates of the semifinals – May 9 and May 11, the final will be held on May 13.
